Patents

RoboTrader's technology lineage is protected by one granted U.S. utility patent and one pending U.S. + international (PCT) application — an arc from AI news analysis (2017) to the full AI trading platform (2022→today). Both were fought for, not just filed.

System and method of providing news analysis using artificial intelligence

The origin of the RoboTrader lineage: an AI engine that reads news at scale and quantifies sentiment. It retrieves articles across many sources, tallies how often each tracked word is referenced, and computes a live sentiment score for each word by averaging its baseline sentiment with the sentiment of the words around it in the same sentence — surfacing the trending words that matter, each with a live sentiment reading.

The claims also cover voice-activated delivery (the Alexa skill), web presentation, topic category filtering, and impact scoring that combines sentiment strength with frequency — the engine behind our buzzwords news-analysis product family.

Patent FIG. 2 — the buzzwords mobile interface with live sentiment-scored trending words
From the granted patent: FIG. 2 — trending words with live sentiment scores on mobile

The fight to grant

This patent was earned, not rubber-stamped: ~3.5 years of USPTO examination against 35 cited prior-art references (including filings from Microsoft, Facebook, NEC and Adobe). The examiner issued a non-final rejection in December 2020; our response was met with a final rejection in April 2021 — and the after-final arguments then prevailed: the case was reopened that September and the Notice of Allowance issued November 1, 2021. The USPTO credited 443 days of patent-term adjustment for prosecution delay. In force, maintenance paid through year 4.

Systems and methods for an artificial intelligence trading platform

The trading platform itself. The application covers determining changes in an electronically traded asset's value over a period, computing a weighted magnitude score from those changes at different times in the window, generating a signal when the score crosses a threshold, and transmitting that signal to targets — the scoring-to-signal spine this platform runs on.

Further claims cover establishing positions from AI-generated signals with continuous machine-learning-driven monitoring and adjustment, symbol-agnostic operation across markets, simplified access to quantitative-grade analysis for non-professionals, and a strategy marketplace where users can share and customize trading strategies.

Application FIG. 4 — the core loop: determine value changes, calculate weighted score, generate and transmit signal above threshold
From the published application: FIG. 4 — the score-to-signal loop the platform runs on
Application FIG. 10D — platform interface wireframe: trade, markets, strategies, analysis, orders
FIG. 10D — one of 59 sheets, including the platform interface wireframes

Where it stands

Priority runs from an October 2022 provisional; the invention was also filed internationally under the PCT (published as WO 2024/086283 A1), preserving rights beyond the U.S. The application published with 20 claims and 59 sheets of drawings — flowcharts and the platform's interface designs. Examination is active: a non-final office action issued in March 2026 and our response is on file. We publish the public record here and argue the rest where it counts — at the USPTO.
